Ultra min-e 2090™ Review

Ultra min-e 2090™ Bark Trainer Ultra min-e bark trainer, belongs to the family of so-called shock collars for dogs and as such is based on delivering static pulse stimulation as a correction.

Here we see a shift from larger no bark collars towards the small and compact ones. However, this shouldn’t confuse us that since it is small it also means it is less powerful than the bark collars large in size.

To the contrary, Ultra min-e 2090™ offers some unique features that makes it at least as good and effective as much large in size anti bark collars.

Before we look into some of the great features it is important to point out that this collar is intended to treat so-called nuisance barking and not one related to any medical reason therefore it necessary to consult our pet vet to exclude any underlining medical issues for the excessive dog barking.

Finally, ultra min-e 2090™ should not be worn for longer than 12 continuous hours.

Is The Size (an weight) Important?

There are many bark collars available with a lot of different features and while this is generally good, sometimes it could be also confusing and could lead us to overlook something fundamental as a proper collar size. The collar size is usually good starting point when we are looking for a new no bark collar.

We need to find something that will fit our pet. And when we speak about collar size it is important to point out that the ultra min-e comes with adjustable collar which is good fit for some of the smallest dogs (6 ½ inch) and some much larger breeds up to 24 inch.

Just with all the other dog collars it is important to fit the collar properly to insure the dog’s safety. In addition if ultra min-e collar is left too loose than the “prongs” or contract points will not have proper contact with the skin and collar will not function properly and could also promote the skin irritation.

So, it is important to take our time and ensure those two requirements are met. The user guide provides all necessary information for proper fit.

Ultra min-e 2090™ with 1 ¼ inch X 1 ⅞ inch and weight just under 4 ounces is one of the smallest bark collars in the world.

The Importance Of Adjustable Stimulation Levels

Some 30 years ago when first e-collar models become available in USA they were very high powered which of course were not well-accepted by many responsible dog owners.

Since the goal of bark collars is not to harm our pet but rather to interrupt the unwanted behavior so that we could follow up with positive training and reinforce the desired behavior it is very important to have the option to adjust the correction level to the lowest level possible that our pet responds to.

Ultra min-e 2090™ bark trainer offers 8 stimulation levels which will allow us to find the right stimulation level for our pet. This level of course may vary for different types of training/situation.

Word of the caution here is that we should not leave our pet alone for the first few times it receives the stimulation. Plan your first sessions when you will have some time to spend with your pet.

The goal here is that our pet associates the stimulation with the unwanted behavior (such as excessive barking) therefore we should allow our pet to make such association.

However, should our dog respond with so-called bark-correction-bark-correction cycle we should calm our dog so that he learns that if he is not barking that there is no correction.

Will The Outside Noise Activate Ultra min-e 2090™

When we train our dog using dog training collars it is, as mentioned above, very important that our dog associates the behavior with the correction. For example in the case of the excessive dog barking the goal is to associate the excessive barking with the correction.

Now, since many bark collars were equipped with the microphone to detect barking it was possible that the outside noise (when other dogs bark) is picked up and our dog would receive the correction for no reason. Therefore these collars were not effective at what they were supposed to be doing.

However, the Ultra min-e 2090™ comes with Vibrations Sensor that only picks up the vocal cord vibrations and thus avoids delivering the unnecessary correction caused by external noise.

Why The Disposable Batteries?

The Ultra min-e 2090™ has been designed to be the smallest anti bark collar therefore the choice of disposable batteries instead of bulkier rechargeable ones makes a lot of sense.

The first battery is provided to customer and it is recommended to use the 6 volt lithium batteries instead of alkaline type. It is estimated that this could increase the usage time up to 300% or these batteries could last up to one month.

To increase the life of the battery it is recommended to always turn the unit off after the training session.

Any Warranty?

Ultra min-e 2090™ comes with one year parts and labor warranty. In addition it comes with thirty days money back guarantee.

Who Is This Collar For?

To summarize the ultra min-e 2090™ has some great features such as:

  • The smallest bark collar in the world
  • Waterproof
  • Lightweight
  • 8 correction levels
  • Vibrations Sensor
  • Microcomputer technology
  • Adjustable collar

Without doubt this collar is great training tool and while the smallest in the world it for sure isn’t the cheapest one (at the time of this writing $ 71.75) and if the money isn’t the issue than buying this collar is good investment.
